ABOUT
Aurora Winkler

Aurora is an abstract painter working in Western Maine. She paints with acrylic and mixed media on canvas, exploring electromagnetic frequencies and unseen energies that exist beneath our feet and above our heads.
Raised on 50 acres in the Maine woods, off-grid and exposed to wilderness from an early age, Aurora developed a deep connection to the natural world—land, water, mountains, trees—that continues to ground her practice. She gets outside every day, and that connection is essential to her work.
Her current body of work, Telluric Currents, investigates electromagnetic currents and unseen frequencies that permeate our environment. The paintings invite viewers to tune back into these natural rhythms, to reconnect with the earth and the energies we’ve become detached from. There’s a spiritual dimension to the work—an attention to healing and transformation through reconnection with what sustains us.
Working from her off-grid studio, Aurora builds layered compositions that balance intuition with intention. She’s interested in collaboration and conversation, and welcomes inquiries about commissions and studio visits.
Aurora earned her BFA from Sierra Nevada College (2011), with studies at Maine College of Art and Haystack School of Crafts. In 2017, she founded Art Agent Maine. Her work has been featured in The World of Interiors, Maine Magazine, and Condé Nast Publications.
